“Mama Told Me Not To Come” Reimagined By Funky Indie Act Five Townz

Independent rock/soul band Five Townz recently released a high quality version of the classic “Mama Told Me Not To Come” by classic rockers Three Dog Night. The vocals are raspy and loose from the get go on the verses, as if Kid Rock and Pitbull wrote a track together. The chorus is really where the range and versatility shine through, and you can tell right away that Five Townz would be an energized party band. The production is stellar and the harmonies really shine, especially during the fantastic outro when things get more soulful. Three Dog Night are not the easiest band to cover, but Five Townz do it flawlessly; the guitars are funky and tight and the musicianship seems more than up to snuff.

Though it’s currently a challenge finding much information on this new act, let’s hope they provide their listeners with more ways of finding them and hearing their music shortly. For the moment, you can hear “Mama Told Me Not To Come” at Five Townz’s Jango page, where they appear to be doing quite well. Alternatively you can visit the band’s Myspace page.
